Welcome!

I want to welcome all who are interested in my Vw powered experimental aircraft engine cooling experiments. Over the next few weeks I will be posting information on my experiences with a Vw powered Zenith CH701, the issues I have encountered, how I over came them and my plans for the future development of my Vw aero engine.  Stay tuned!

  1. All right, Wayne! Thanks for your determination and willingness to share. I am working on my Fat Fins project and will let you know the results. I contacted Superior Flux Co.and bought some of their Al brazing (they refer to it as soldering due to the temperature) flux. This is their product 1280. MP is about 600F to 800F, so should be a good temp guide and help "wet out" the metal. Haven't used it yet. We shall see!

I will probably will fly my project roughly late Feb.

  2. Hi Wayne,
    Good luck with the blog.
I run an Ellison TBI on my Tipsy Nipper, I had the same mixture balance issue as you. My TBI is fitted to a plenum chamber downstream, I fabricated "bell mouths" to project into the plenum chamber, originally they were equal length which is when I had the distribution issue. Recently I lengthened one so the the distance from the full rich side of the TBI choke is the same to each bell mouth opening. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but much, much better than the original setup.
